Abstract

452,061. Feedwater heaters. HUBERT, C. A., 6, Rue du General Gouraud, Strasbourg, France. June 22, 1935, No. 17943. Convention date, Oct. 1, 1934. [Class 64 (i)] In an economizer the water flows through a vertical row of tubes 1 in the same direction as the flue gases and then through series-connected horizontal rows of tubes in counterflow thereto. In a modification, the water flows first through the horizontal rows of tubes in counterflow to the flue gases and then through a vertical row of tubes in the same direction as the gases. In this case, a manually-operable valve 5, Fig. 5, permits vapour to pass from the water inlet pipe to the outlet pipe. Fig. 4 shows another arrangement, in which the water flows first through two parallel rows of vertical tubes in the same direction as the gases and then through two groups of serially-connected horizontal rows of tubes in counterflow to the gases. In a further modification, the water flows first through a vertical row of tubes in the same direction as the gases and then through vertical rows of tubes connected in parallel in counterflow to the gases.
