Abstract

447,844. Supply systems for discharge lamps. TILLES, G., 15, Cottagegasse, Vienna. Jan. 11, 1935, No. 1071. [Class 38 (iv)] [See also Group XL] Series systems.-An electric discharge lamp is supplied through a transformer, the primary of which is in series with a separate resistance having a positive temperature coefficient. The resistance may be variable or may be a metal filament lamp 14 in which case the illumination of this lamp may also be utilized. Chokes, resistances and condensers may also be included in series in the primary circuit. A number of lamps 9 may be connected with their transformer primaries 3 in series with each other and with a common resistance 14 having a positive temperature coefficient. Each lamp may be mounted with its electrode ends projecting into a box 1 containing the transformer 2 each box being provided with sockets 5 and projecting plugs 11 so that series connection is effected by mating the plugs and sockets of the transformer boxes. Flexible connections may, however, be employed. Specifications 336,314, [Class 38 (iv)], and 426,085 are referred to.
