[Class 39 (i).] An electric discharge tube sign of the kind comprising a number of interchangeable sign members each consisting of a discharge tube, forming a character, and a transformer connected to the ends of the tube and to supply terminals is characterized in that each member is provided with a switch connected to tappings from the primary winding of the transformer so that by maniuplating the switch said member may be readily adapted to different supply voltages. As shown, the sign comprises a plurality of insulated casings 2 detachable mounted by spring tongues 8, 8<1> on a carrier bar 1, each casing housing a transformer 9 and having a discharge tube 3 mounted,in a recessed wall 4 and a switch 16 on a detachably wall 5. The transformer secondary winding 12 is connected to the tube 3 and the primary winding 13 is divided and connected to the tongues 8, 8<1> and switch 16, as shown in Fig. 5, the tongues 8, 8<1> engaging supply contact bars 7, 71. With the switch arm 23, carrying contact pieces 24, 25 in the position shown in Fig. 5, the parts of the winding 13 are in series and thus adjusted for the maximum supply voltage. When the arm is rotated 180‹ the parts of the winding 13 are in parallel and thus adjusted for the minimum supply voltage, whilst a 90‹ clockwise rotation permits of an intermediate supply voltage.
