Abstract
510,987. Supply systems for discharge lamps. CLAUDE-GENERAL NEON LIGHTS, Ltd., and LARK, G. T. KINGSLEYMay 26, 1938, No. 15754. [Class 38 (iv)] In a supply system for two or more luminous electric discharge lamps or tubes which are effectively connected in parallel, each lamp or tube 1 is connected across the secondary of a close coupled transformer 2, the primary windings of these transformers being connected in parallel, either directly or through series capacities, in series with a common condenser 3 across the secondary of a leaky reactance transformer 4, or an equivalent transformer impedance combination, the primary of which transformer or combination is to be connected to the supply mains. In the example the transformers have a centre-earthed secondary winding. A condenser may be connected directly across the output terminals of the leaky transformer or transformer-impedance combination. The tubes may be of the cold cathode type or have thermionic electrodes which are heated at least when starting.
