Abstract
Anthraquinone dyes which may be after-chromed are prepared by causing sulphuric acid containing sulphur trioxide to act upon a 4 - aminoanthraquinone - 1.2(N) - phenyloxazole, if desired in presence of boric acid. The products are probably anthraquinone-oxazolesulphonic acids probably containing one or more hydroxy groups. In examples: 1.2(N)-phenyl - 4 - aminoanthraquinone - oxazole is treated with fuming sulphuric acid at about 90--100 DEG C. with or without boric acid present; the 4-aminoanthraquinone-1.2-p-tolyloxazole and the oxazole from 1-oxy-2.4-diaminoanthraquinone and m-methoxybenzoyl chloride are similarly treated; the oxazoles from 1-oxy-2.4-diaminoanthraquinone and o- or m-chlorbenzoyl chloride are similarly treated at about 130--150 DEG C. The products when after-chromed on the fibre yield grey shades.
