Abstract
445,976. Directive wireless signalling. LORENZ AKT.-GES., C., 1, Lorenzweg, Tempelhof, Berlin. Feb. 26, 1935, No. 6155. Convention date, March 1, 1934. Addition to 433,873. [Class 40 (v)] The method of indicating to an aviator the point at which he must start to descend the landing beam along a curve of constant fieldintensity, as described in the parent Specification, is further characterized by the feature that the start-indicating beam is radiated on the same wavelength as the landing beam, but is differently polarized. The latter is produced by a vertical and the former by a horizontal dipole, similar aerials being mounted on the aeroplane for reception. The two signals are distinguished by different modulating notes, and different tuned inputs may be used on the receiver and coupled to a common lowfrequency amplifier.
