Abstract

408,837. Directive wireless signalling. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP MACHINERIEEN-EN APPARATEN FABRIEKEN, 30, Croeselaan, Utrecht, Holland. June27,1933, No. 18295. Convention date, July 6, 1932. Drawings to Specification. [Class 40 (v).] A radio transmitter produces a spacially inhomogeneous bundle of radiation, for example, in the form of a cylinder and the inhomogeneity at the receiving station is used for increasing the selectivity. In one embodiment an electric or magnetic dipole, i.e. a rod or coil aerial is arranged at the focus of a paraboloidal reflector so that its axis of maximum radiation is perpendicular to the axis of the reflector. It is shown that this disposition produces a tubular radiation diagram, and substantially all of the radiation produced is reflected from the mirror. The receiver is arranged similarly to the transmitter. The production of beams of elliptical and other cross sections is discussed, also the replacement of the mirror by energized or unenergized conductors in known manner. Specifications 314,310 and 323,331, [both in Class 40 (v)], are referred to.
