Abstract
475,348. Wireless signalling; aerials. CORK, E. C., and PAWSEY, J. L. March 17, 1936, No. 8037. [Class 40 (v)] Relates to means for coupling the feed-line to a short-wave aerial, suitable for television, so as to reduce the variation of reactance with signal frequency. As shown in Fig. 1, the inner ends of the dipole 1, 2 are tapered at 3, 4. The sheath 5 of the coaxial feed-line is connected to the limb 1, whilst an auxiliary conductor 6, which operates in the manner described in Specification 438,506 is branched off from the feed-line at D and is connected to the lower dipole at G. The arrangement enables the centre conductor 7 of the feed-line to be connected across to the auxiliary conductor 6 by a comparatively-short lead. In an alternative arrangement the ends of the sheath 5 and conductor 6 are chamfered for the same purpose ; this also allows the dipole limbs 62 to be set in strict alignment. Fig. 3 shows another modification in which flat conductors 8, 9 join the feed-line 5, 7 and conductor 6 to the dipole parts 1, 2.
