506,518. Wireless signalling; aerials. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE. Nov. 29, 1937, No. 32913. Convention date, Nov. 28, 1936. [Class 40 (v)] A short-wave aerial is coupled to a feeder and the aerial reactance at side band frequencies is compensated by the provision of a parallel tuned circuit resonant to the carrier frequency connected across the feeder at the aerial end or a series circuit connected through a length of line to the same point. As shown, a conical aerial A is connected to a concentric feeder E and the compensating circuit comprises four #/4 concentric conductors L1... L4 short-circuited at their ends which are connected by a ring K serving as a counterpoise for the aerial A. The constants of the tuned compensating circuit are derived mathematically in the Specification.
