Abstract
469,579. Impedance networks for wireless reception. PHILCO RADIO & TELEVISION CORPORATION. Oct. 21, 1936, No. 28626. Convention date, Nov. 5, 1935. [Class 40 (iii)] To facilitate image frequency suppression the input circuit to a superheterodyne receiver comprises a transformer giving capacitive as well as inductive transfer and connected between the aerial and the primary an impedance which is inductive for signals but capacitive for image frequencies, and a capacity in shunt to the transformer primary of such a value that the primary circuit is resonant at a frequency below the lowest frequency it is desired to receive. The Figure shows an aerial connected to earth through an acceptor circuit L2, C2 for the intermediate frequency and through an inductance L1 to the primary of an input transformer. The inductance L1 is tuned by its inherent self capacity to a frequency at the lower end of the image frequency band while a capacity C1 is provided such that the input circuit as a whole is resonant at a frequency just below the signal frequency band but above the intermediate frequency.
