Abstract
441,743. Book-covers; bookmarkers ; paperknives. MULLER, M., 38, Rue de Flandre, Paris. April 10, 1935, No. 11150. Convention date, June 28, 1934. [Classes 16 and 146 (ii)] A protective cover for a book comprises a sheet of transparent material 10 having at its ends pieces 13, 14 of cardboard or like comparatively stiff material, and provided with a bookmarker or paper-cutter formed integral with one of the stiff portions and adapted to be detached therefrom when required for use. The bookmarker or papercutter 21 may be cut out of the portion 13, and retained along the edge 22 which is perforated. A lip 23 may be cut out of the member 21. In a modification, the bookmarker or paper-cutter consists of an extension of the portion 13. The sheet 10 may be reinforced at the top and bottom edges by strips 25 of paper or linen. Tongues 24 of soft metal may be provided on the portions 13, 14 which, when the protective cover has been placed on a book with the portions 13, 14 folded against the inside faces of the binding boards, are bent over between the sheet 10 and the binding boards to retain the cover in position.
