Abstract
424,274. Inspecting fabrics. BOUCHER & CO., Ltd., 107, Mill Street, and POYNER, B., 41, Crescent Road, both in Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Aug. 16, 1933, No. 22835. [Class 42 (ii)] Carpets &c. to be inspected &c. are passed from a pile or roll 19 over a table 17 to one or other rollers such as 25 which are driven by power, and the final roll can be rolled down rails 53 into the bearings 21 ready for another passage through the apparatus. As shown a roll of carpet on a cradle 64 fitted with a turntable 67 is pushed between the sides 15 of the table stand and as the size of the roll diminishes the spindle 20 runs down the guide rails 53 in the bearings 21. The carpet &c. passes over rollers 22 at the ends of the table 17 and is wound on the roller 25 driven through reversing gear 59, 58, a belt 43, and a clutch from the power shaft 41. The roller 25 preferably has a squared end 28 which can be secured, as by a pin 33, in the notched end 26 of a bush driven by the gearing 58, 59. When the bush is declutched from the drive shaft 41, reverse rotation may be prevented by a brake.
