Abstract
400,761. Unreeling strip iron for supply to rolling-machines. KRUPP GRUSONWERK AKT.-GES., F., Buckau, Magdeburg, Germany. Sept. 15, 1932, No. 25693. Convention date, Nov. 3, 1931. [Class 83 (iv).] A roll of strip iron W to be reeled off into a rolling-machine is supported in a sling consisting of an endless belt 9 which is led over rollers 3, 4, 5, 8 and thence under the roll W, the rollers being mounted in a movable carriage 1. The roller 8 is mounted at the end of a lever 7 which may be swung outwards about the shaft 6 of the roller 5 to allow a fresh roll to be placed in the sling, the swinging movement being effected by an hydraulic piston 10 which rocks, by a link 12, a bevel wheel 14 gearing with a bevel wheel 15 on the hub of the lever 7. A rod 25 is passed through the roll W to prevent deformation thereof by the pressure of the roll 8, and endwise movement of the rod 25 may be effected by a lever 22 coupled to the rod of the piston 10. A knife edge 24 separates the free end of the strip to allow the strip to be inserted into the rolls of the rolling-machine. The shaft 6 is provided with a chain wheel by which the reeling-off mechanism is driven.
