The band passes around a driven drum h and the rollers c, d may be driven either by contact with the band or positively at a different speed by gearing which includes a clutch pinion. The articles are fed in at s and delivered by endless tapes or an apron v to a receiving table w. A tension roller x, doffer blade v<2>, and guide-plates t, u are provided. The presser rolls e are carried in sliding blocks mounted on springs and can be lowered by a pedal; the pressure of the springs can be varied by a lever co-operating with a fixed retaining rack.
