Drawings to Specification. [Classes 51 (i) and 55 (ii).] Naphthalene, preventing deposits of.-In the firing of coke ovens by purified oven gas, or by other relatively cool fuel gas containing naphthalene, water vapour, or other constituent which tends to deposit in the supply conduits, hot gas, such as waste combustion products, is mixed with the fuel gas to raise its temperature above the temperature of deposition of the naphthalene &c., the volume of added gas being small so that the fuel gas is not substantially diluted. The waste gas may be withdrawn from a flue by a fan, and the quantity added may be controlled by a damper actuated by a thermostat in a fuel gas main.
