Abstract
417,201. Coking processes. PRYDE, D. R., Norton Hall, The Green, Norton-on-Tees, and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Millbank, London. April 1, 1933, No. 9869. [Class 55 (i).] To increase the yield of benzol from coke ovens, a relatively cool non-oxidizing gas, such as that obtained from another oven during the early stages of coking, or producer gas, is introduced into the crown of the oven at a point remote from the ascension pipe when the coking process has been taking place for preferably three-fifths of its normal time. The temperature of the crown of the oven when the gas is introduced exceeds 1200‹ C. and the temperature of the gas is about 600‹ C. Specification 376,606 is referred to.
