450,065. Vertical coke ovens. STEINFELDT, H., 4, Baumgarten - Crusiusstrasse, Leipsic, Germany. Nov. 15, 1935, No. 31692. Convention date, Dec. 1, 1934. [Classes 51 (ii) and 55 (ii)] In a vertical coke oven fired by a gas-producer g disposed laterally of the oven chambers, retorts h for the production of the coke used in the producer are arranged at the upper part of the oven so that the coke may be discharged therefrom directly on to the charging floor m of the producer. In the form shown, a retort h is disposed in the upper part of each heating wall, but the invention may be applied to existing ovens by the provision of a superstructure in which the retorts hare fitted.
