Abstract

391,425. Indicating liquid-levels. MOUREU, L., 18, Allee des Citeaux, Issyles-Moulineaux, Seine, France. July 22,1931, No. 20901. Convention date, Aug. 30, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 123 (i).] A water-level indicator for a boiler comprises two electrodes 1, 2, the lower parts of which may be gilded or platinized and the upper parts insulated, connected to a circuit including a battery 8, electromagnet 12, and galvanometer or other indicator 19. When the electrodes 1, 2 are immersed, the electromagnet 12 breaks the contacts 10, 15, but when the level falls below the electrodes 1, 2, the breaking of the circuit is indicated by the galvanometer 19, and also by the bell 17 which is caused to ring when the electromagnet 12 is de-energized and the contacts 10, 15 closed to complete again the circuit of the electromagnet. An electric lamp signal may also be included in the bell circuit. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the contacts 10, 15 are arranged in the circuit of another source by which an electric motor and feed pump are started when the water level is too low. In another modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the battery 8 includes two relays in series, one actuating an electric bell and the other controlling the circuit of the pump motor.
