Abstract
387,218. Lubricating sewing-machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C., 65, Chancery Lane, London.-(Singer Manufacturing Co. ; Elizabeth, New Jersey, U.S.A.) June 14, 1932, No. 16779. [Class 12 (ii).] The actuating shaft 6 is hollow and is filled with a wick. Oil supplied through a hole 14 collects in a space 10 and drips through holes 11 and holes 15 in the shaft 6 to supply oil through the passages 16, 17 to the bearing surfaces 24, 25, 28. Oil is conducted down the hollow 50 of the link 30 to lubricate the bearing of the pin 31 connecting the link to the needle bar 33. A lubricating pad 43 serves the needle-bar bearing 44. The upper bearing 39 of the needle bar has a lubricating wick. The upper end of the needle bar has a needle 37 which enters a hole 38 in this bearing and excess oil is forced through a hole 42 in the bushing. A wick reservoir 58 supplies lubricant through holes 60 to the pin 54 and hollow link 52 on which the take-up finger 46 is pivoted.
