Abstract
358,288. Lubricating sewing-machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C., 65, Chancery Lane, London.-(Singer Manufacturing Co. ; Elizabeth, New Jersey, U.S.A.) Oct. 11, 1930, No. 30468. [Classes 12 (ii) and 12 (iii).] In a sewing machine wherein a cam 5 on a shaft 4 actuates a take-up lever 8 and carries a crank pin 11 connected to the needle bar 16 by a link 13, the bushing 19 in which the upper end of the bar 16 reciprocates is closed at its upper end by a felt plug 21 through which lubricant may be supplied to the interior of the bush. The movements of the bar in the bush cause lubricant to be sprayed through an aperture 22 on to the cam 5 and on to the joints of the link 13, surplus lubricant flowing down to the lower bearing 20 for the bar.
