Abstract
383,421. Drawing wire. HERAEUS VACUUMSCHMELZE AKT. - GES., and ROHN, W., 8, Dammstrasse, both in Hanauon-Main, Germany. Nov. 17, 1931, No. 31883. [Class 83 (iv).] Each drawing-drum of a wire-drawing machine is mounted directly upon the shaft of a separate electric motor unit. A drawing- drum C, Fig. 2, may be mounted on the shaft B of a motor M, all the motors being supported on a member A, the dies D being mounted on a member E. A motor unit may alternatively include gearing g, h, Fig. 4, the drum C being mounted on the driven shaft f. Usual means for varying the speed of the motors may be included. The drums may increase progressively in diameter, or their speeds may be progressively increased, or a combination of these two methods may be employed, to compensate for the increase in length of the wire on drawing.
