481,916. Drawing. RICHARDS, S. H., and LLOYD, H. J. Oct. 12, 1936, No. 27696. [Class 83 (iv)] Drums.-The drum 5 of a wire-drawing machine is freely rotatable around the driving shaft 1, and the wire gripping device 17 is secured to a chain or cable 12 which passes freely through an aperture 14 and is secured at its further end either directly to the shaft 1 or to a collar or drum 4 mounted thereon and located within the block, the gripping device being drawn against stop means 15, 16 on the drum so that the drum is driven from the shaft through said chain or cable. The drum 4 may have a small radius at the point 13, the radius gradually increasing to the stop 16 so that the drawing speed is gradually increased on starting.
