Abstract
639,669. Driving dandy rolls of papermaking machines. SPENCER, J. A. July 16, 1947, No. 18886. Convention date, April 12, 1940. [Class 96] The dandy roll 30 of a Fourdrinier papermaking machine is positively driven from the wire drive by a shaft 98 mounted independently of the axle 34 of the dandy roll and aligned therewith, a clutch 108, 110 being interposed. The shaft 98 may be driven from a shaft 16 (geared to the couch roll 10), through a variable speed box 60 and reduction gear 84. The axle 34 may be mounted in vertically adjustable bearings 42 and the shaft 98 may be slidingly mounted in a bearing 100 movable vertically and horizontally.
