381,407. Therapeutic appliance for radio-active treatment. TREANOR, F., 27, Maze Road, Kew Gardens, Surrey, and RADIOPATHIC INSTITUTE, Ltd., 125, Strand, London. Dec. 21, 1931, No. 35316. [Class 81 (ii).] A radio-active compress comprises a suitable carrier having a radio-active substance affixed thereto or impregnated therein, encased within sheets of a porous absorbent material, and covered on one side of its outer surface with a sheet of fabric pervious to water, and on the other with a sheet of fabric impervious to water. A sheet of paper or other carrier A is pasted or impregnated with a radio-active substance B made moist with water or glycerine, for example. To each side is applied a sheet C, C<1> of fibrous material such as cottonwool, and a sheet D, D<1> of flannel, the whole being covered on one side by a sheet E of pervious material such as silk, and on the other by an impervious sheet F, for example of rubber fabric, and secured by quilting. The edges are bound with braid forming loops I at the corners for securing the compress on the body. In use, the pervious side is placed against the body, the outer impervious sheet preventing escape of moisture. The appliance can be moistened by absorption of water through the pervious surface.
