416,655. Surgical dressings. JOHNSON & JOHNSON (GT. BRITAIN), Ltd., Slough, Buckinghamshire.-(Johnson & Johnson; New Brunswick, New Jersey, U.S.A.) May 25, 1934, No. 15696. [Class 81 (ii). A wound dressing comprises a strip of plaster 5, a compress or dressing 7 of suitable material, such as gauze, within the marginal limits of the plaster, and one or more air passages 8 through the plaster beyond the margins of the dressing. The air passages may extend all round the dressing and may be of any suitable form, such as slits or a series of holes. The plaster 5 is preferably made of fabric. impregnated with a phenolic resinoid material so that it is impermeable to fluids, and covered with a suitable adhesive. It is preferably formed with flared ends or with spaced ends 12 to assist application to a member or portion of the body where flexing occurs. Fig. 4 shows the application of the dressing to a finger.
