Abstract

1425179 Incontinence pads F L WILLING- TON 9 Jan 1974 [11 Jan 1973] 1486/73 Heading B5N [Also in Divisions A5-A6] An incontinence pad comprises in downward sequence a rectangular permeable layer 11 of hydrophobic fabric such as knitted polypropylene, a layer 12 of plied absorbent paper, an impervious layer 13 of polythene, a layer 14 of plied absorbent paper or wood pulp which is thicker than layer 12 and may be impregnated with a colloid such as methyl cellulose, and an impervious layer 15 of polythene or mixed polythene and paper whose edge portions 18 are folded up and bonded over the edge portions of layer 11 to provide a seal, the pad having a square window 16 formed in the layers 12, 13 centrally of one of its longer sides. The colloid may be incorporated in layer 14 in the form of a band 17 spanning window 16. The pad may be 18 inches by 24 inches in size with the window 6 inches by 6 inches. The total pad capacity is not less than 500 ml.
