Abstract

369,835. Cigarette-making machines. TRIGGS, W. W., 57, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.-(American Machine & Foundry Co. ; 511, 5th Avenue, New York, U.S.A.) July 13, 1931, No. 20056. [Class 130.] A delivery arrangement for the cigarettes is provided with an additional feed belt 21 driven at a lower speed than the first feed belt 14, so that the cigarettes pile up in layers on the second belt for facilitating handling. An upwardly-curved wall 35 may be provided at the end of the second belt to cause an additional piling-up. The cigarettes are first delivered by a belt 6 into pockets formed around a rotating drum 9, one cigarette entering twice as far along the drum as the succeeding one, so that two rows are delivered from the drum on to the belt 14. Guide walls suspended above the belts 14, 21 keep the two rows of cigarettes in alignment.
