[Class 126.] Ashes, collecting ; trivets.-A tilting plate A is pivoted, for instance by gudgeon pins, E, in two side extensions: D of a domestic fire grate in front of the grate bars B, the side extensions and a front cover F forming with the tilting plate an enclosed extension K<1> of the ash-pit K. The plate A normally rests with its outer edge bearing on the plate F and may then serve as a trivet ; when tilted it ejects accumulated ashes into the ash-pit. The front cover F has flanges which are bolted to the side members D, and a gap J so that the plate A may be moved easily. Means are provided in the removable ash-pit front G to regulate the draught. The front grate bars B have pins B<1> which engage in slots B<2> in the inner faces of the members D so that they may be turned down on to the plate A.
