Abstract

365,776. Ironing - machine rollers. TULLIS, D. K., Kilbowie Iron Works, Clydebank. Jan. 19, 1931, No. 1687/31. [Class 138 (ii).] The roller of an ironing-machine comprises a cylindrical shell la having circumferential ribs 2a supporting a perforated cylindrical metal sheet 4a whereby a cellular jacket is provided between the shell and the padding 5a. Escape of the heated air from the cells of the jacket is permitted by perforations 3a in the shell. The interior of the shell may be open to atmosphere or to suction. One end of the sheet 4a is bolted at 6 to a flange 7 at one end of the roller and the other end is provided with a flange 8 having apertures 9 guided over pins 10 whereby differential expansion of shell and sheet is permitted.
