[Class 34 (i)] [See also Group VIII] In an ironing-roller wherein the padding 12 is supported by longitudinal ribs formed on the roller whereby ventilating channels 11 are formed, these channels communicate through apertures 17 and ferrules 16 with a chamber 15 arranged within the roller and sealed from the heating medium and communicating through the trunnion 8 with a source of suction or air pressure. In a modification, the chamber 15 is reduced in size and is positioned near the centre of the roller. Several such chambers may be provided.
