Abstract
364,524. Suspension bridges. BATICLE, L. U. E. A., 172, Rue de Rivoli, Paris. Aug. 28, 1931, No. 24305. Convention date, Aug. 28, 1930. [Class 20 (i).] To prevent deformation in the suspending cable of a suspension bridge, the extreme third portions of the cable 1 near the end supports are anchored by ties 3 under initial tension and connected to the supports as low as possible. The points of intersection of these ties with the vertical suspenders are made secure and where separate ties 4 are used to support the deck, the points of intersection are also secured. The points of attachment of the ties to the supporting cable may be further fixed by horizontal connectors passing across between the pillars through these points. The stiffening girder 2 for the platform may in consequence only extend across the middle third of the bridge span.
