[Class 7 (vi).] Regulating-means for Diesel engines comprise hand or foot control of the fuel supply and the air throttle together for lower loads, and of the fuel supply only for higher loads, the throttle remaining in the full-open position in the latter case. Fig. 1 shows the fuel pumps P controlled by a rod 2 connected, for example, to a pedal 3. A stop 8 on the rod 2 engages a lever 7 connected to the air throttle 6 and pressed by a spring 9. When the pedal 3 is actuated to increase the fuel supply, the throttle 6 is also opened until the rod 7 comes against a stop 10. Further actuation of the pedal 3 then adjusts the fuel pumps only. The stop 8 may be adjustable on the rod 2. In a modification, a separate hand control of the throttle is provided.
