361,449. Skiving leather. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., Union Works, Belgrave Road, and MACDONALD, D. B., 132, Regent Road, both in Leicester. Aug. 30, 1930, No. 25926. [Class 31 (i ).] Stationary-cutter machines.-In a machine for skiving limp shoe stiffener blanks 50, the blanks are fed to a knife 25 by upper belts 30, 32, 34, 36 co-operating with lower belts 31, 33, 35, 37, Fig. 3. The upper and lower belts pass round rollers 10, 24 respectively shaped as shown. The end belt 31 travels beneath the knife 25 and carries the waste portion to a position where it is removed by a brush 61. The blanks are guided by edge guides 58, 56, pass under a spring presser 59 contacting with the back of the belts, and are delivered by the belts 33, 35, 37. The actual cutting operation is shown in Fig. 3 in which the stiffener 50 is shown bent above and below the knife 25, and the rollers 10, 24 are suitably shaped. In a modification, guides turn the blanks through 90‹ and the belt 31 is of the same width as an upper single belt.
