Abstract

234,181. British United Shoe Machinery Co., Ltd., Clarke, T. B., and Bennion, L. H. Feb. 22, 1924. Splitting-apparatus.-Heel stiffeners of leatherboard and the like are skived by feeding the blanks each twice with their longitudinal edges obliquely disposed across the knife edge, the rear half of the blank being skived at each feeding. The blanks 3 are fed by a feed-plate (not shown) embracing the trailing edge of the blank, to rolls, the lower 15 of which has a die cavity for holding the blanks at an angle of about 15‹ to the roll axis, and the part 18 is then skived by a stationary knife 14. The blanks are reversed and again fed past the knife and the portion 19 is removed. Specifications 10936/94 and 14725/02 are referred to.
