Abstract

358,942. Drying fabrics in long lengths. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd., 22, Hanover Square, London, MELLOR, A. and MANN, R. J., of British Celanese, Spondon, near Derby. July 12, 1930, No. 21160. [Class 34 (i).] In fabric drying and stentering apparatus, the selvedges of the fabric are completely dried priorto the stentering. The selvedges of the fabric 3 passing from a beam 4 over the rotary drying drums to the stentering machine are dried by air induced by fans 20 into steam-jacketed casings 15 and forced through the nozzle slots 10. Each fan, steam-jacketed casing and nozzle forms a unit which can be adjusted through screw-mechanism to suit fabrics of different widths.
