Abstract

934,955. Removing curl from webs. HOLT HOSIERY CO. Ltd. April 21, 1960 [April 22, 1959], No. 13637/59. Class 100 (1). Curl is removed from a web 11, especially of knitted or woven fabric, by jets of fluid from nozzles 17a. The fluid may be air, liquid or steam. The liquid may be size, subsequently dried by passage adjacent a drying nozzle. The nozzles 17a are telescopically mounted in tubes 17b to permit adjustment of the nozzles to suit varying widths of web. In another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), for removing curl prior to entry into a stentering machine scroll fingers 21 engage the web in advance of branched nozzles 17a<SP>1</SP>, 17a<SP>11</SP>.
