Abstract
222,453. Offroy, R., and Blondel Fils et Cie. Sept. 28, 1923, [Convention date]. Trimming; burling. - The fabric passes from a pile or roll over guide and tension rolls to driven card covered rollers 8, 9 which remove loose threads from the faces of the fabric and shorten the threads extending from the selvage. The fabric then passes over a blower 10 which raises the threads extending from the selvage so that they are cut off by rotating cutting-discs 11, the cut ends being removed by a suction device 13. The fabric then passes to fixed or rotary brushes 35, 36 which remove any loose threads &c. remaining on the fabric. The cutting-discs together with the suction and blowing devices are pivoted on arms controlled by a handle on a shaft 26, rotation of the shaft adjusting the devices laterally of the fabric whilst the shaft can be raised and maintained in that position by a latch to move the cutting-discs &c. clear of the fabric. The cutting-discs &c. can be arranged on both sides of the fabric to treat both selvages simultaneously.
