Abstract
356,928. Refrigerating; cooling unspecified articles. ELECTROLUX, Ltd., 153, Regent Street, London.-(Assignees of Knight, D. B. ; 295, St. Johns Place, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.) Aug. 28, 1930, No. 25706. Convention date, Aug. 28, 1929. [Class 29.] Warm bodies to be cooled, particularly the absorber F and condenser C of a continuous - cycle absorption r e - frigerating machine, are cooled indirectly by an evaporating medium such as dichlormethane circulating by gravity in a hermetically closed system in heat exchange relation with a low-lying source of cold, such as a well, cellar, or stream. The rising limb of the closed system is formed as a pipe 50, 51 soldered or welded to the absorber condenser, and the liquid and vapour in this limb rise to a reservoir 52, whence the liquid portion descends through a pipe 53 to the low-lying cooled portion 54 of the system. The cooled liquid rises through a pipe 55 to a jacket 56 around the reservoir 52 and serves to condense the vapour in the reservoir, and flows down a pipe 57 to the bottom of the coil 50. The pipe conveying strong liquor to the absorber may contact with the coil 50, and separate closed systems may be used for the absorber and condenser.
