Abstract
427,937. Refrigerating. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. June 27, 1934, No. 19034. Convention date, June 27, 1933. [Class 29] Compression machines.-In a cooling unit of the kind comprising upper and lower headers 21, 23 connected by cooling tubes and having means for injecting liquid refrigerant into the lower ends of the tubes together with means for returning liquid refrigerant from the upper header to the lower header, the cooling tubes 24 are formed as plane sinuous loops. The loops are each enclosed by a flat container 30 filled with a negative heat-storage substance such as glycerine or brine solution. Stamped zigzag plates 33 are welded on each side of the containers. The containers are welded to the top and bottom plates of the casing 34. The fan 43 and its motor are secured to the detachable front plate 44 of the casing. Liquid refrigerant flows from the float chamber of the condenser through a pipe 25 to tubes 26 projecting into the lower ends of the cooling tubes, and vaporized refrigerant is withdrawn by the compressor from the upper header through a pipe 27.
