500,269. Refrigerating. POLLUX PATENT AKT.-GES: April 28, 1937, No. 12161. Void. Convention date, May 19, 1936. [Class 29] Absorption machines and systems.-A reversing machine particularly for a domestic refrigerator comprises an aircooled generator absorber i having a heating tube i<11> carrying spaced perforate discs between alternate pairs of which solid absorbent, e.g. calcium or strontium chloride, is packed, a condenser consisting of interconnected superposed finned cylinders a, b, a condensate reservoir ql, and an annular evaporator r disposed in a tank of brine. The machine is charged with liquid refrigerant, e.g. ammonia, through a connection h, and generator-absorber is provided with perforate vapour distribution tubes k, and has a cooling surface not exceeding 0À28 sq. m. per kg.-mol. of absorbent. The generator-absorber and the condenser are disposed in a compartment at the top of the cabinet having air inlet and outlet louvres c<11>, c<1> respectively, and are separated by a partition d preferably of heatreflecting sheet-metal.
