Abstract

315,292. Electrolux, Ltd., (Platen- Munters Refrigerating System Aktiebolag). April 11, 1928. Refrigerating, absorption machines for.- In continuous cycle systems containing an inert gas and wherein one or more of the heat delivering parts is cooled by vaporization of a liquid, the vapour produced from this liquid is used for circulating liquid of the system. The apparatus described comprises a generator 2, expulsion pipe 4, condenser 5, evaporator 6 and absorber 8. Inert gas and refrigerant vapour circulate in known manner through pipes 9, 7 between the absorber and the evaporator. The expulsion pipe passes through a chamber 12 containing liquefied refrigerant supplied from the condenser through a pipe 11. This liquid cools the pipe 4 to rectify the hot vapour from the generator, and the vapour produced passes down a pipe 13 to a nozzle 20 entering a pipe 14 in communication with the liquid space of the generator. The liquid is thereby raised to a vessel 15, whence it flows by a pipe 16 interchanger 10 and pipe 17 to the top of the absorber. The vapour passes through a pipe 18 to the liquid space of the absorber and is there absorbed. A wire wick may be placed in the pipe 11 to permit back flow of vapour from chamber 12 while liquid is flowing in, or the pipe 11 may lead through a seal into a separate chamber connected to the chamber 12 and having a vent pipe to the condenser. The vapour after moving the liquid may be condensed and returned to the chamber 12, instead of being absorbed, and a linuid other than the refrigerant may be used.
