Convention date, March 18, 1931. Divided on 398,264. Drawings to Specification. [Class 29.] Apparatus elements located at different levels are cooled alternately by a closed-cycle condensing-evaporating heat transfer system having its parts in open gas and liquid communication and consisting of two limbs connected at their upper and lower ends, and a vessel containing additional medium connected only to the lower end of one limb. This vessel undergoes temperature variations to change the effective liquid column in one limb and thereby bring about the alternate cooling action. The invention is described with reference to the cooling of the condenser and generator-absorber of the refrigerating system set forth in Specification 386,475, in which also the operation of the heat transfer system is described, but is applicable to cooling purposes generally.
