[Class 51 (i).] In pulverulent-fuel furnaces, more particularly intended for locomotives, there is arranged below the main arch h a short auxiliary arch i so as to form a passage k for the introduction of secondary air supplied from a channel l fitted with a damper m. The passage k may be divided by vertical partitions n or, as shown in Fig. 3, it may be divided by a horizontal partition into upper and lower passages p, q the passage q being further subdivided by vertical partitions n. An arch e is arranged above the burner d and is provided with secondary air inlets g.
