Abstract
501,940. Boiler furnaces. COENEN, E. J. B. Nov. 1, 1937, No. 29815. Convention date, Nov. 5, 1936. [Class 51 (i)] In a sectional boiler furnace fuel passes from a receptacle 4 through passages 3 controlled by vertically adjustable members 22 on to inclined guide members 5 and fuel supports 2 which are of less inclination than the guides 5. The plane of the support 2 meets the vertical plane through the lower edge of the guide 5 on a line below the said lower edge and at a distance therefrom such that the depth of the fuel on the support at the lower air inlet opening 13a formed therein is greater than on the guide member at the upper air inlet opening 13 provided immediately below the guide member. Air for combustion is supplied to chambers 7 from which it passes to the upper air inlets 13 and through channels 2a in the supports 2 to the lower inlets 13a. Air also passes from the chambers 7 through damper controlled openings 18 to the ashpit 15 below the grate members 16. The supports 2 may be provided with projections 14.
