Coke ovens.-In the coke oven described in the parent Specification, the horizontal partitions in the regenerators are omitted and the air is directed vertically through the checker-work. Preferably, an horizontal air admission flue having ports, which may be graduated in size according to their position in respect to the taper of the oven, is provided in the floor of each regenerator, and at their upper ends the regenerators communicate through short, ports with the heating-flues.
