Abstract

349,507. Lenses. NEWCOMER, H. S., 410, East 57th Street, New York, U.S.A. Feb. 25, 1930, No. 6301. Convention date, March 2, 1929. [Class 97 (i).] An anamorphotic afocal objective comprises positive and negative members having cylindrical surfaces. The focal surfaces of the two members are of substantially the same curvature, whereby the astigmatism of the lenses is neutralized. The individual members may be cemented doublets 21, 22 corrected for chromatic and spherical aberrations. While producing a null convergence, the magnification in one plane differs from unity. The principles upon which the invention is based are set out at length in the Specification, together with numerical data of two examples.
