Abstract
346,912. Reducing electric charge in textile fibres. ACETA GES., 9, Haupstrasse, Lichtenberg, Berlin. Feb. 24, 1930, No. 6070. Convention date, March 11, 1929. [Classes 2 (ii) and 15 (ii).] The electric charge of textile fibres, particularly artificial fibres from cellulose esters and ethers, which is formed during the working up thereof, is reduced by treating the fibres with mixtures of oils or fats to which an oil soluble organic base has been added. Fat-acids may also be present. As examples of suitable bases are mentioned cyclohexylamine, dibutylamine, hydrogenated pyridine bases such as piperidine, amino-alcohols such as the mono-di- and tri-ethanalamine, the products known under the trade name of Sapamines as, for instance, oleic acid-#-aminoethylamide. Soaps of secondary or tertiary amino-alcohols and of the sapamines are particularly suitable, and bases combined with fat-acids of low melting-point, such as olein or technical olein are preferred. The presence of amino-soaps increases the suppleness and slipping power of threads in knitting, facilitates the subsequent washing operations, and such substances as amines or amido-soaps act towards the oils as antioxygens and retard resinification of the oils by atmospheric oxygen during storage of the textiles. Either the fat-acid or the base may be in excess in the mixture, and a base in the proportion as low as 0À2 to 2À0 per cent may be used. In examples given for the treatment of artificial threads, coco nut oil, olein, castor oil, palm kernel oil, and arachis oil are mentioned. German Specification 286,173 is referred to.
