Abstract
346,150. Wet twisting. KARSCH, A., 39, Comeniusstrasse, Dresden, Germany. April 1, 1930, No. 10291. [Class 120 (ii).] Yarn or thread to be twisted or doubled is passed through a current of water flowing in a direction opposite to that in which the yarn is moving on its way to the twisting-device, whereby short fibres are brushed downwards and close twisting with a smooth surface is effected. The yarn b passes from the package a to the twisting device d, through the guide c and a slotted pipe e through which water flows from the tank f to the trough i. The yarn may rub on the inner wall of the pipe e to effect a further smoothing. In place of the pipe e, a bent open channel, an endless flexible band of curved cross section, or two parallel helical springs in contact with one another, each being supplied with water by gravity, may be provided, or the yarn may be drawn horizontally through a water trough through which flows a counter-current of water.
