Abstract

341,494. Safety razors. ADAMS, T. HAMILTON, Roxwell, near Chelmsford, Essex. July 19, 1929, No. 22174. [Class 30.] For the purpose of attracting all the steel molecules comprising the edge of a safety razor blade in the direction the blade is cutting, a safety razor is provided with a magnetized guard arranged so that the edge of the blade lies adjacent to, but not touching the guard. Applied to a " Gillette " type safety razor, the guard b is W-shaped with the magnet poles at the ends of the W. The space between the poles and the blade c permits passage of the lather. The Provisional Specification describes also a U-shaped magnetized guard for the same type of blade, the distance between the poles being slightly greater than the blade width. This guard has two aligning pins engaging blade apertures and has attached to it, preferably by a central screw adjustment, a plate narrower than the blade, which may be attached either magnetically or mechanically to the outer side of the plate.
