Abstract
332,879. Siegbahn, K. M. G. Jan. 4, 1929, [Convention date]. Fluid-friction apparatus.-A vacuum pump comprises a rotary disc 1 which is disposed between two walls 7, 8, each of which is provided with a spiral groove 9 communicating with the intake 10. The grooves 9 gradually decrease in cross section in passing from the circumference to the centre, the decrease being more rapid at the circumference. The disc 1 is mounted on bearings 3, 4 and is driven by a pulley 12 secured to a shaft 13 which is mounted in a bearing 14. At its inner end the shaft 13 carries a friction disc 15 which is connected to the disc shaft 2 by means of a clutch 16. The backing pump is connectei to a pipe 11 which is placed between the bearings 4 and 14.
